Malcolm was given to the ATF by the guiding eyes for the blind after being highly obedience trained. The ATF then trained Malcolm for the Accelerant K-9 Division. I was assigned to Malcolm in August of 2009. Malcolm spent 5 years as my partner responding to many fire scenes and assisting with the fire/arson investigation to my immediate area as well as other states on the National ATF Response Team. Malcolm Has responded to several locations in Illinois but also was involved in incidents in Wisconsin and Indiana which included Homicide scenes with convictions. Malcolm and I were given a Joint Operations Award from the Chicago Police Department for a homicide conviction obtained for a Arson investigation.
Malcolm is the most loving and obedient dog I have ever met. I can’t Imagine losing my friend as his health declines. His veterinarian believes he has the onset of leukemia and has started by the diminishing strength and speed in his back legs and the incontinence which is rare in male dogs.
