Luther was born on October 12, 2012, and was initially undergoing training to be an Autism assistance dog, earning the Canine Good Citizen from the American Kennel Club. In 2014, Luther began police service dog training in patrol and drug-detection, graduating in June 2014. Luther worked for the Bartlett Police Department from 2014 through August 2023, and was responsible for the apprehension of criminal suspects, the location of firearms and other crime evidence, and the location of drugs and currency connected to drugs. Luther was certified through the North American Police Work Dog Association, the Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board and the Chicago Police Department.
