K9 Kevin proudly served the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office as a dual-purpose patrol K9 after beginning his career in June of 2019 alongside his handler, DFC Dante DiJirolanio. Throughout his career, K9 Kevin was an integral part of the Sheriff’s Office, assisting in numerous operations including tracking, apprehension, and narcotics detection. His dedication, drive, and loyalty made him a dependable partner and a valuable asset to the community he served.

At 8.5 years old, K9 Kevin was diagnosed with Myasthenia gravis earlier this year. Despite responding well to treatment and continuing to show his resilience, the decision was made to retire him in the best interest of his long-term health and well-being. Effective April 30th, K9 Kevin officially retired from active duty, closing out a distinguished career marked by service, commitment, and an unwavering bond with his handler
