K9 Dina (B509) has worked for the Austin Police Department since July 2019. She was a part of the TSA National Explosives Detection Canine Program, which trains and deploys canines to state and local laws enforcement teams. These canine teams support day to day security operations at the nation’s transportation systems, and Dina was stationed at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. Throughout her career, Dina has been tasked to work numerous large scale and high profile events including, Super Bowl 52, Super Bowl 54, University of Texas Football games, Austin FC soccer games, Austin City Limits Music Festivals, South by Southwest Festivals, parades, and numerous sweeps for dignitaries, including current and former Presidents of the United States. These events were in addition to her normal, day to day operations at the airport.

Dina has provided invaluable service and dedication throughout her career, often under physically demanding conditions. She never complained, always wanting to work even if it was her handler’s day off! She has definitely earned her retirement and now it’s time for her to relax and chase some squirrels!
