Function: Dual Purpose K9 – Narcotic Detection and Patrol

Axel was the Police Departments first working dog, purchased from Northeast K-9 in Raynham MA. Axel was certified through the Boston Police K-9 Academy in Patrol (Tracking, Building Searches, Handler Protection, Evidence Recovery and Obedience) in January of 2014. He worked the road until the summer of 2014 when he went back to the BPD K-9 Academy and was certified in Narcotics.

Throughout our time on the road Axel had great success tracking and finding verbal and non-verbal children with Asperger’s Syndrome, Autism, Elderly with dementia, as well as violent suspects. Axel loved working hard and long hours. He was a great partner and a K-9 that was successful enough that the program continued after his retirement.
