Dunja (pronounced “Doon-ya”) is from the Netherlands where she was a KNPV Class I titled dog. I was a law enforcement officer with the United States Forest Service and her and I were teamed together in November 2016. Dunja and I assisted the Arkansas State Police Interdiction team, local sheriff’s offices, local city police departments, and did many public relations events at local schools and churches. Dunja assisted in numerous narcotics seizures, tracks of suspects, apprehensions, recovery of articles/evidence, and locating a special needs kid that had wandered away from his home. Dunja and I were so successful, I was given the award of National Law Enforcement Officer of the year for 2020 with the Forest Service. Dunja’s success also led to a local police department obtaining their own K9 program! Dunja retired in September 2021.
Dunja is very friendly, outgoing, affectionate, and loves to chase her rubber ball on a string. She goes to work with my wife who is an assistant to the investigators at a local sheriff’s office where deputies that worked with her get to still pet her and see her daily.
