Kai was born July 19, 2014 in Slovakia. Kai and I became a team in 2016 for The Department of Correction, trained as a Patrol Team. In 2018, we became trained in narcotics, making Kai a dual purpose K9. We worked together until January 2021 when Kai retired due to my career change to another Law Enforcement Agency.

Since his retirement, Kai has been enjoying life. He has 2 smaller “siblings” he enjoys playing with, who also keeps him young. He loves being outside and going on hikes, no matter what the weather is. He enjoys playing fetch loves being with his people.

Update 2025: In 2018, Kai and I graduated from the 195th Connecticut State Police K9 Training Troop specializing in Narcotic Detection. Kai and I competed in the CT. K9 Olympics from 2016 – 2020 and in 2018 we were the Top Team in Apprehension. Kai retired in December of 2020 when I was accepted into the 130th Connecticut State Police Training Academy.

At 11 years old, Kai still has the energy he did when he was 2. He enjoys playing ball / fetch and playing with his “fur siblings.” He loves going on hikes and romping around in the snow. He continues to be my shadow, and we have a bond that I will forever cherish.
