Reks is a 7 year old German Shorthair Pointer born in Germany on February 17, 2014. He trained at Lackland Airforce Base to become an Explosive Detection K9 and kicked off his career in 2016 in San Diego and Los Angeles, prior to his assignment in Chicago in 2017. In Chicago, he was partnered with Chicago Police Officer – K9 Explosives Detection Handler, Mike Walter. Reks and Mike worked in the Mass Transit unit from 2017 to 2019 then transferred to Airport Law Enforcement. Here, they were assigned to both O’Hare and Midway Airports, from where they both retired in May 2021.
