Mamo joined the Chicago Police Department in 2021. He was certified in Explosive Detection and worked at both O’Hare and Midway airports in Chicago.

Mamo and his handler truly enjoyed serving the city of Chicago as well as thousands of travelers daily. In April of 2024, Mamo and his handler decided to retire. They are now enjoying early morning walks together followed by Starbucks where he is a barista favorite, known for his usual puppuccino.

Update 2024: Mamo retired from the Chicago Police Department in April of 2024. He continues to enjoy riding over his handlers shoulder and chasing tennis balls.

Update 2025: Mamo is currently enjoying his first full year of retirement.
