K-9 Scout was born on February 19, 2017 and completed his certification in November of 2018. He trained and certified in narcotics, evidence / article recovery, tracking, apprehension training, and cadaver recovery. Despite being aggression trained, K-9 Scout remained playful and happy and treated apprehension work as a game. In addition to patrol work, K-9 Scout would conduct public demonstrations at our schools in conjunction with the D.A.R.E. program and for local festivals. He is a beloved member of our department and community. In the fall of 2025, K-9 Scout began having mobility issues and was retired from work. Shortly after he was diagnosed with degenerative myelopathy. He remains happy and playful and is currently enjoying his retirement at home with his two Australian Shepherd siblings.
