Prior to retirement of both Officer Chad McCameron and K9 Hank, they were assigned to street patrol in Antioch Illinois. Officer McCameron has been a police officer since 1995 and he was paired with K9 Hank in April of 2016.

Hank is a male Sherman Shepherd who was born in the Czech Republic in April of 2015. Hank is certified in obedience, article searches, area searches, tracking of human scent, building searches, aggression control and handler protection, clean currency proofing and narcotics detection including cannabis, cocaine, methamphetamine and heroin. Hank is also certified in both land and water-based cadaver finds.

Over the years Hank found numerous missing persons, plenty of bad guys and pounds and pounds of illegal narcotics, dirty money and firearms. He also let people know you cannot outrun him!

Hank lives at home with Officer McCameron and his family including one other dog. In his down time, Hank enjoys tennis balls, frisbee, smelling anything and everything as well as napping on the cool tile floors.

Update 2024: Hank continues to enjoy retirement. We still attend K9 training smelling for all the drugs and cadaver. His brain, body and soul are well and well are both thankful for a great police career.

Update 2025: Hank and his family continue to enjoy retirement. Hank still goes to work with his person and enjoys a life of leisure and lots of play time. We are grateful for his health and his dedicated life of being a working K9!

Update 2026: Hank still continues to enjoy retirement from policing. He loves to swim, goes to his private sector job with dad and garners lots of “good boys” and quick pets before the next dog lover walks through the door and he does it all over again. He trains on narcotics still and still has the nose for tracking. At 11 years old he is living his best life!
