K9 Bane has served with the Illinois State Police as a Full-Service K9, beginning in 2018, specializing in narcotics detection, tracking, article searches, and apprehension. Over the course of his career, K9 Bane has been credited with the seizure of over $71 million worth of narcotics, and illicit contraband, including the seizure of over:

  • 362 kilograms of Cocaine
  • 210 kilograms of Methamphetamine
  • 100 kilograms of Fentanyl and Heroin

In addition to his detection work, K9 Bane has played a critical role in the apprehension of numerous drug traffickers, human traffickers, violent fugitives, and child predators. He has been consistently recognized as one of the top ranked K9s in the Illinois State Police, and received multiple awards and commendations. Beyond the statistics, K9 Bane has protected and saved lives, including his handler’s.

K9 Bane was retired in July 2025 for medical reasons.

K9 Bane will be retiring with his handler, who treasures him, and will ensure he enjoys the amazing retirement he has so richly earned. He will continue to patiently supervise his mischievous little sister, another bi-colored GSD, and show her the ropes on what it takes to be working dog.
