K-9 Jack was born on May 15, 2007 and began working with Ofc. Salmi in August 2008 after a six-week training course with the Cook County Sheriff’s Police K-9 Unit. Between that time and June 2017, Jack performed hundreds of vehicle searches, over 50 public demonstrations, and nearly 100 tracks for missing or fleeing persons. In June, medical concerns overcame Jack and he was retired from duty and will now live out his life with Ofc. Salmi and his family.
