K9 Koda was born in Holland on August 25, 2014. In 2016 he was paired with Officer Bloom (Middletown CT Police Department) and were graduates of the 184th Connecticut State Police Patrol K9 Class in 2016. Koda served the City of Middletown from 2016 until his well earned retirement on January 1, 2024.
As a police K9, Koda was responsible for apprehending numerous high profile suspects, locating key items of evidence and preserved the life of many suicidal individuals and runaways. On Koda’s last shift before retirement, he was involved in a multi-town vehicular pursuit stemming from a home invasion, robbery, assault and kidnapping call originating in Middletown. When the vehicle became disabled, Koda got into a foot pursuit with an armed subject and was able to apprehend him before the suspect was able to cause harm to another community or his K9 handler.
Now retired, Koda is at home living his best life, going on hikes, relaxing and barking all day at Amazon Prime deliveries. He has embraced his new roll as a home protector for two young boys at home and is the most dedicated, loyal and happy boy a handler, partner and best friend could ask for.
Update 2025
Koda continues to enjoy retirement, thank you guys!
