Vader is 11 years old and was assigned to Patrol and then our Investigative Division at our department, a metro suburb of Milwaukee. Vader was a very loyal and obedient partner on the street and is now living the good life at home. Vader retired due to age and complications due to arthritis, but is doing well. Vader was loved by his community and still has a social media following on Twitter at @BDPDK9

Update 2024: Vader is a retired dual-purpose Belgian Malinois, born July 26, 2011, and served the citizens of the Village of Brown Deer, WI with his partner, Det. Sgt. Joshua Morgan, from 2012 to 2020. Vader is enjoying retired life, loves swimming and playing with toys, and has a real knack for sleeping the day away, made easier by his progressive hearing loss! Update 2025: Vader continues to enjoy retired life! After 10 years of daily use, he finally lost one of his canine tooth crowns. At almost 14 years old, he still eats well, barks at everything he can see and hear (which isn’t as much anymore) and loves lying in the grass in the backyard. We’re looking forward to another great summer of outdoor fun!
