Marco, now 10 years old spent his younger years working many, many hours in explosive detection. Most of Marco’s work was protecting many of Chicago’s Professional Sport teams and their fans. Marco searched and most of the Chicago sporting venues before, during and after the games. What would take almost a lifetime for some, Marco experienced before he was 8 years old. He was lucky enough to work through a Chicago Blackhawk Stanley Cup Championship series and a Chicago Cubs World Series Championship. He even managed to become good friends with Chicago Blackhawk Andrew Shaw. A laid-back fellow he is but when you told him it was time to work, he became a different animal. As his excitement level is still the same as it was, his level of physical endurance has diminished a bit. As bad as we feel for him to stay home from work, I’d hate to push the old guy to work shifts walking around sporting events and music concerts, especially in the heat. Therefore, these days Marco relaxes at home with a household of four. Two days a week, he spends working in daycare watching my 14-month-old nephew. (See photo below) Occasionally he enjoys a fifteen minute game of tug of war with his stepbrother Tonka. (A 2y/o black lab) This I feel may keep him youthful for years to come. As he has worked hard for me and my family, he has worked hard for several other families who have also loved and adored him. Now it is my turn to work hard for him and let him enjoy his senior years doing whatever it is he wants to do.
